The outermost layer of wheat is called wheat bran. When the wheat grain is washed and dried, this bran, which is separated when the wheat is milled, is as healthy and nutritious as wheat flour.
Wheat bran offers a much higher fiber content than wheat. It is also a rich source of B group vitamins. Wheat bran contains high levels of B vitamins, especially thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and folate.
In addition to the benefits of wheat bran, it is also considered an important source of vegetable protein for use in the feed industry.
